I recently got wind of a new wave of online sites called penny auctions and one of them which seemed to be the best was BidCactus. I’ve heard many different things about BidCactus, some people say it’s a scam, some people say it’s the best thing that ever happened to them and some people are on the fence. With all these varying reviews, I decided to check it out myself and give it a shot.
I went over to BidCactus.com and bought a bidpack of 250 bids which is the best size to get according to my research. Once I had my bids and was signed up, I looked at the auctions and checked out a variety of products which I was interested in. They had all sorts of stuff including TV’s, laptops, gift cards, iPads, GPS systems, and even speaker systems.

I set my sight on a beautiful new Apple iPad 32GB model with WiFi and 3G and saw that there was not that much competition so I started my bidding. In case you don’t know how penny auctions work, all of the auctions for all the products on the site start at $0.01. Everytime someone places a bid, the price goes up $0.01 and 10 seconds gets added to the timer. If you’re the last person to place a bid before the timer hits zero, you’re the winner of the auction!
As I bid, other bidders started bidding but I was persistent and I kept going. I varied the timing of my bids, sometimes bidding at only 2 seconds left and sometimes bidding right before it came to the 3-second mark. It took me about 5 minutes of a bidding war between me and another main bidder before the bidding stopped and I noticed the clock timer ran out and I was the winner of the auction!
They shipped the iPad to me in about 2 weeks and it came with the standard Apple manufacturer’s warranty.
